Convertible Top Motor
The Convertible Top Motor helps to raise or lower the convertible's top. The convertible motor drives the pump which is connected to the motor at one end and the fluid reservoir on the other end. The pump generates a pressure varying from 300 to 450 psi. It is fitted in the trunk area and supplies hydraulic fluid to the lift cylinders which are mounted on either side of the vehicle. The pump is held in position by means of rubber grommets that act as a cushion to minimize the noise while opening or closing the top.
When the convertible top switch is turned on, the electric motor and pump start operating. The reservoir supplies the hydraulic fluid, which is pressurized and pumped by the convertible pump to the cylinders. The top opens when the pressurized fluid flows from the top to the bottom of the cylinder and closes when it flows in the opposite direction. The fluid then flows back to the reservoir.
